Quick Summary
Pioneer SR-303 (1980–1982) — Outboard BBD-based analog reverb processor with exceptional technical specifications: 90dB S/N, < 0.05% THD, 5Hz–70kHz frequency response. Stereo RCA I/O, two modes effect (0–3 sec / 25–100 msec), continuous TIME and DEPTH controls.Sturdy metal housing, AC power supply.Ideal for vintage studio setups and modern producers looking for an authentic classic reverb sound
Product Description
Pioneer SR-303 is a fully electronic digital reverse unit from the years 1980- 1982, equipped with BBD (Bucket-Brigade Device) delay line with C-MOS integrated circuits. This is an outdoor effect with RCA stereo linear inputs / outputs, designed for insert or send / return connection in analog studies. The Sr-303 is characterised by an exceptionally high signal-to-noise ratio (90dB) and low distortion (< 0.05% THD), mainly due to modern semiconductor architecture. The model is mounted in a robust metal housing with a simple and intuitive control panel: a clear TIME and DEPTH control, two effect modes (EFFECT-1 / EFFECT-2) with a continuously adjustable disconnection, and an input attenuator for optimization of signal levels. Vintage aesthetics and reliable analog construction from 70.-80. The years make SR-303 the ideal choice for modern studios looking for the authentic sound of a classic computer reverb without digital elements.
Features and functions
- BBD delay line analog reverse engine - classic vintage reverb characteristics
- Stereo regular processor - L / R stereo signal promotion
- RCA audio I / O - standard outdoor connectivity
- Warm, rich reverb sound - characteristic analogue BBD reverbs
- Ideal for insert processing - into a mixer or pedalboard
- Vintage aesthetics - retro design from 70.-80. years
- Without digital elements - pure analogue hardware
- Studio-grade construction - robust metal housing
- Quiet operation - without fan, stable temperature mode
- Ideal for ambient, film scores, orchestra texture
Primary I/O (quick orientation)
| Domain | Inputs | Outputs | Note |
| Audio | Stereo line in (RCA) | Stereo line out (RCA) | Confirmed by the Internal Inventory (RCA LINE I / O). |
Controls
FRONT / TOP (user control)
- TIME control - continuous adjustment of delay / reverse time (0-3 sec @ EFFECT-1, or 25- 100 msec @ EFFECT-2)
- DEPTH control - continuous adjustment of reverse payment
- EFFECT-1 switch - selects first reverse mode (long reverse times, 0-3 sec @ 400Hz)
- EFFECT-2 switch - selects second reverse mode (short reverse times, 25-100 msec @ 400Hz)
- Input signal attenuation switch - attenuates input signal for matching levels
- Reverberation effect indicator display - visual feed back of effect processing
Service / hidden elements
- Wallpaper mode: It is possible to record the affected signal via the connected recording device
- See Manual for the connection diagram

Typical routing
- Mixer aux reverb loop: Classic SR-303 integration as external reverse on aux bus.
• Aux send from mix - > SR-303 stereo input (RCA)
• SR-303 stereo output (RCA) - > stereo return / line input mix
• The dry / wet ratio to drive on the mix and on SR-303
Connection instructions: The examples below show typical signal flows in practice. For specific details (jitter, buffering), see section above.
