5. UNITS - career, ALLY and OPFOR
P5.7.111 - rank, PERSON and operational insignia
ROSTER is the U.S.-only. WO / CWO quality graphics are selected according to the service of the current assigned unit (Army / USMC / Navy) and drawn under the unit character. ALLY / OPFOR insignia are the operational identification graphics for Briefing Case / orders and possibly Tactical Map at the exact global_unit_id; never automatically inserted into the player- carer ROSTER.
GS Encyclopedia has a separate PERSON Tab for real PERSON entities including civilians. Weapon / communication / equipment records are not transferred to the PERSON fallback classification. Exact- unit insignia are fail-closed: the missing binary asset remains PENDING and its source is stored in manual-download backlog instead of creating a generic emblem.
Player profile and roster
USE _ PROFILE may contain multiple separate PLAYER_PILOT Career. Active pilot owns his flight roster active pilot + 4 persistent wingmen. Another PLAYER _ PILOT from the same profile never becomes a wingman.
Unit data layers
| Authority | Current Range | Purpose |

| Global ALLY / OPFOR | 76 identity entries | Vietnam PAVN / VC, ISIS / SDF / Syria, Taliban / ISIS-K, NVA / GSFG / CGF, CZ / SK and other non-player forces |

GS Encyclopedia - U.S. vs. global
Development DEV_TOOLS/GS_Encyclopedy.py separates U.S. Units from Ally / OPFOR Units. U.S. tab reads unit_universe_master.data; global tab reads global_ally_opfor_unit_universe.data. Technical cards Allies and Opponents the platform / equipment browser remains and is not confused with the organizational units.
- U.S. Units: text + AO + year, period records, hierarchy, equipment, missions a verified / pending insignia.
- Ally / OPFOR Units: text + alignment + AO + year, nation / entity, campaign context, role, equipment pool, runtime readability, source confidence and fail-closed insignia.
- Dashboard contains a separate cover scope
GLOBAL_UNITSTo keep global units from interfering with the U.S. Coherage metric.
P5.7.109 - OIR partner- force cover
Global Universe newly contains source-backed cards for 9th Iraq Army Armoured Division, Iraq Counter Terrorism Service and Iraq Federal Police in the context of West Mosul / Tal Afar 2017. In addition, the 9th Iraq Army is directly documented by M1 Abrams in a battle west of Mosul; the precise subordinates of OOB, other vehicles subtypes and insignia remain separate research gates.
Alignment is not a nation's property
ALLY / OPFOR / NEUTRAL / CIVIL _ SUPPORT DETERMINES period + camp snapshot. The CSLA can be in Cold War / Fulda scenario OPFOR, CSFR in Gulf War ALLY and modern Czech / Slovak NATO unit ALLY. Syrian government formations can be a screenio-dependent. The non-state forces of the Taliban / ISIS are led as the campaign-force identity instead of the invented Western divisions.
Valuation
Canonical award catalog currently contains 55 items. Award ownership belongs to a particular pilot career. Ribbon-only and metadata-only items are legitimate states; the game must not generate a false medal just because the original graphic asset is missing.
P5.7.110 - Czech and Czechoslovak units
Global Unit Universe has in P5.7.129 76 identity. The new Czech NATO layer includes 22. From VrL, 221. and 222. Helicopter squadron, 4. Brn, 7. mb, 73. or (f) (g) (i) (i) (ii) (ii) (iii) (iii) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) (iv) Plro. The historical layer of the CSLA includes 51. Helicopter Regiment, 1. and 9. tank division for Giant Mountains 1980 and 5. Anti-aircraft missile regiment with 9K33 OSA-AKM.
PLAYER Flight is not a common NPC group
Leader and the wingmen are made up of player- controlled flight and the player is individually assigned a helicopter and a loadout to them in Hangar. All other ALLY / OPFOR / NPC units have a mission-autor load policy and the player does not edit their configuration in runtime.
P5.7.129 - identity vs period record
Unit identity and historical period record are not the same. U.S. master can have multiple data lines / period records under canonical identities; current corange metrics hold 519 canonical U.S. identities and 234 period records. Global ALLY / OPFOR catalog has 76 identity. The alignment and availability of the technique are still derived from the period / campaign, not just from the name of the unit.
P5.7.129 - WORLD / ERA units
GS BIBLE now holds three separate groups US UNITS / ALLY UNITS / OPFOR UNITS for each WORLD Snapshot / ERA. The US is not part of the general ALLY sum. Canonical unit_ref the numbers are separated from the unclosed OOB / text context. The complete matrix is in WORLD / AO cover and in WORLD_ERA_FORCE_COVERAGE.json.
Currently has an explicit force / OOB binding 37 out of 55 Snaphoti; residual 18 is visibly INCOMPLET in the Bible instead of adding an estimate.
P5.7.135 SAVE / PROFILE / ROSTER
GS2D and GS2K use separate strict currez- save namespace; runtime migration and fitness fallback are prohibited. PLAYER portrait is a persistent part of the pilot record (portrait_id + asset reference).
DEVELOPER / test save fixture are deliberately diverse for QA roster: each four-member wingman squadron uses four different ranks, four different portraits and four different award / ribbon combinations. The same contract applies to GS2D and GS2K. New current profiles generate wingmans with the same perflight diversity; closed KIA / MIA / RETIRED identities are not regenerated.
P5.7.145 REAL / FACTIONAL unit policy
Real military units keep sources-backed identity, period and organization in every scenario class. Fiscal units are only allowed when explicitly marketed FICTIONAL / ALT.
P5.7.157 - onboard aircrew
Door gunners and flight medical are INTERNAL_CREW. They have identity / state / AI / load / mass on board, but do not create separate PERSON models in the scene. The same applies to transported passengers / troop / casualty persons: during onboard status there are no scenes but their physical weight remains active.
