How the application works and what it is for
Overview
HTML DocBrowser QT is a specialized utility for quick viewing and indexing local HTML documentation. Unlike full-time browsers, it focuses on simplicity and direct access to documentation files within the development environment.
User interface
The application provides a light interface optimized for fast reading of texts:
- Tree View: Quick navigation by document structure on the left.
- Text search: Search in open documents.
- Print to PDF: Basic export to PDF.
Extended profile
HTML DocBrowser QT is a development documentation browser designed for larger repositories, where HTML instructions, help files, templates and other documents are gradually dispersed into many directories. The application passes through the entire tree, the found HTML files are categorized and allow them to search and open from one location.
Asynchronous scanning of the repository
The scan runs in a separate background task and the UI remains responsive during the browsing. Typical technical components are omitted as .venv, __pycache__, node_modules, .git or local FFmpeg. Documents are automatically sorted on Help, Instructions, Reviews, Template, Welcome, Docs and Other.
Preview and work with document
If Qt WebEngine is available, HTML can be viewed directly in the application; in the absence of it there is a safe fallback. The information panel shows the path, size and date of the file. From context actions you can copy absolute and relative path, open the document in external browser, open its folder or use it as a template for a new document.
Filter, search and export
The list can be filtered by category and continuously full text by name. The number of documents found shall be updated immediately. For audit or other work, the list can be exported to TXT including categories and paths.
UI and localization
The interface supports Czech and English, switched directly in toolbar. The look uses a dark theme, supports its own window accent color and stores the settings in JSON. The tool thus combines the documentation index, browser and simple autohoring help in one window.
