How the application works and what it is for
Overview
ThemeAdder graphical interface extracts dominant colors from the picture, derived additional UI colors and generated the finished entry for 'themes.py'.
Function
- Extracts dominant colors (quantize + filter)
- Auto-detection Dark / Light
- Generating contrast colors, hover / selected, progress bar
- Preview and selection of area (crop)
- Validation of syntax before writing to 'themes.py'
Extended profile
ThemeAdder graphical interface is an interactive tool for creating color themes from image patterns. Typical workflow is deliberately short: load photo, screenshot or artwork, extract dominant colors, let generate a complete color scheme and after checking it safely add to themes.py.
Extraction and generation of pallet
The tool works with PNG, JPG, WEBP, BMP and GIF. From the picture it selects dominant colors, from luminance it recognizes whether a light or dark variant is more suitable, and calculates the subsequent colors for background, foreground, accent, hover, selected, border and other AI states. The user can limit the analysis to the selected rectangle of the image, which is useful when the theme wants to derive only from the sky, object or specific part of the artwork.
Live Preview and Validation
The generated theme is displayed in a live view before saving. ThemeAdder does not end simply by writing RGB values: it creates a structure compatible with the used themes.py, checks the syntax through Python AST and before writing it, creates backup. This reduces the risk that one new topic will damage the whole theme file.
Standalone i embedded mode
The application can be started separately or as an inserted dialog from another application. Originally integrated into the AmiBenchmark, for example, but its logic is general and applicable to other own PyQt / Tk applications. Maintains window geometry, last path and keyboard shortcuts and counts on Windows, Linux and MacOS.
Practical use
From one source image you can create multiple variants - for example one from the whole photo and another from the selected area only. The theme has its own internal ID and the displayed name; the result is not just a sample palette, but a directly applicable data structure for the application UI.
