Dump AV QT

0.3.0

Qt version for dumping audio/video metadata.

What the project solves

Qt version for dumping audio/video metadata.

How the application works and what it is for

What applications solve

listing _ AV _ QT is a practical tool for managing a overview of multimedia files over large directory trees. Combines batch scan, continuous category counting, display a per- directory of statistics and export to readable outputs for archiving and sharing.

Primary objectives

  • Quick review: immediately count audio / video / image / other files.
  • Unfreezing UI: The scan is done in the background via the worker thread.
  • Auditable outputs: TXT listing and HTML gallery with search.
  • Operating comfort: the persistence of configuration, lists and exit routes.

Scanning workflow (detail)

6.1 Start

When starting the workload is initialized, the work is connected to a separate thread and the UI is switched to running mode.

6.2 Running

Worker recursively passes through directories, sorting according to the connections and periodically sends a continuous summary, current status and per-directory statistics.

6.3 Pause / sequel / stop

The state can be suspended at any time by the button Time out, restore and safely end through Stop.

6.4. Completion

After completion, the result is written in the internal list and stored in the configuration as the last known file sheet.

Statistics and reporting

  • Global Summary: audio / video / images / other.
  • Per-directory table: detailed breakdown by component including total number.
  • Status bar: continuous text status (scanning, stop, finished, error).
  • Progress components: percentage, counter and current file currently processed.

Export TXT

TXT export creates a linear list of paths to files for quick processing (audit, grap, other tools).

  • Preferably an explicit path from the UI field .
  • If the target exists, it uses a secure unique suffix with timestamp.
  • The saved path is maintained in config for further start.

HTML Gallery Export

HTML export generates a separate page with internal JavaScript for filtering categories and fulltext search.

Content of the resulting gallery

  • Summary references: All / Audio / Video / Pictures + number of visible lines.
  • Search box for instant filtering table.
  • Clockable file names (URI) and full trips.
  • Optional section of thumbnails (pictures, videos).

Supported formats

Troubleshooting

SymptomCause / Solution
Application does not find filesCheck the access rights and the real existence of the roads.
HTML export is slowFor large datasets, this is expected; turn off the thumbnails and repeat export.
Video preview is not generatedVerify availability and functionality /.
After restart, the layout will be lostVerify the recorder .
Empty ExportCheck the checkbox status of the categories and see if there is a last file list.

FAQ (Q01-Q30)

Quick jumps: Q01 | Q10 | Q20 | Q30
IDQuestionResponse
Q01Is the application for video only? No, he's processing audio, video, and pictures.
Q02Is the AI freezing during the scan?It shouldn't; the scan runs in a workpiece fiber.
Q03Can I temporarily suspend the scan?Yes, click Pause and then Continue.
Q04Where is config stored?To file .
Q05How do I load an existing file sheet?Over the action Load file _ list and selection of TXT file.
Q06What if the output file is already busy? The application will use a safe timestamp suffix.
Q07Does the app support a recursion to subdirectories?Yes, he uses a recursive passage through the os.walk.
Q08What does "others" mean in statistics?Files outside audio / video / image extension.
Q09Is it possible to turn off the pictures?Yes, check the category of Images.
Q10What is the difference TXT vs HTML export?TXT is a linear list, HTML is an interactive gallery.
Q11Generates HTML and search?Yes, it has a built-in fulltext filter.
Q12Are they going in HTML to filter categories?Yes, via All / Audio / Video / Images links.
Q13How do image thumbnails work? The images are inserted directly as preview lines.
Q14How do video preview work?Over the ffmpeg screenshots from multiple time points.
Q15What if I don't have an ffmpeg? The export will run on, just without video insights.
Q16What are the fmmpeg routes searched?System PATH, bundled bin and standard installation routes.
Q17Is it possible to have multiple input components?Yes, the list is multi-item.
Q18How do I remove one item?Take the withdrawal.
Q19How do I delete the whole list?Over Delete All.
Q20Is the last file file saved?Yes, like in config.
Q21Is the window size and position stored?Yes, through the keys and .
Q22How do I know the scan?Progress bar, status text and current file.
Q23Can the scan be stopped safely?Yes, stop button with the end of the workshop.
Q24What to do with very large libraries?Scanning for doses and exporting without thumbnails.
Q25Is app suitable for network drives?Yes, but you can count on a longer response.
Q26Can I only export audio?Yes, keep only the Audio category on.
Q27Can I only export pictures?Yes, just turn on the images.
Q28What if the config is damaged? The application uses default; if necessary, delete the config and create a new one.
Q29What is the role of the external file sheet?Allows export / report even without a new scan.
Q30Is the documentation also addressed to maintainers?Yes, it contains architecture, config keys, QA and operational recommendations.

OPS runbook (operating scenarios and standards)

C1 - Standard production run

  1. Load saved directory profile or add the current root paths.
  2. Set the category filters (audio / video / images) according to the purpose of the report.
  3. Run a scan and keep an eye on the status + per- directory of statistics.
  4. After completion, validate the summaries and check the outlier directory.
  5. Export TXT for audit pipeline.
  6. Export HTML for human review and sharing.
  7. Save the config snapshot and write down the runic notes.

C2 - Large media tree mode

  • Prefer local SSD for route export.
  • First, run a scan without thumbnails (quick audit).
  • Only then run the targeted HTML export of the subset thumbnails.
  • For network share measure latency and plan longer runtime.
  • Give the rungs on the directory blocks, not all at once.

C3 - Incident mode (when export falls)

  1. Separate problem: input data vs export pipeline vs authorisation.
  2. Start export without thumbnails; if passed, problem is in the ffmpeg section.
  3. Check the routes, names, sign sets and the rights of the registration.
  4. Write down the incident with the exact time and symptom.
  5. After the marker, perform a confirmation run on a small and large set of data.

C4 - Team collaboration mode

  • Use the single naming export convention.
  • Always store TXT and HTML together as one artifact run.
  • Add run metadata (operator, date, scope folders).
  • Before sharing, perform a quick check on HTML readability.
